POSITION SUMMARY

This position will collect, analyze, and report current status for use by management for specific commodities, procurement programs and initiatives.  This position is responsible for sourcing, strategy development, and performing transactional purchasing activities to meet the needs of internal business partners and drive value for assigned spend categories.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect, monitor and report market trends and data as they relate to our major materials and services outlining key focus points in helping drive procurement decisions. 
  • Research and report results of procurement programs and initiatives including those related to the Purchase Request to Purchase Order process.
  • Compile data in support of identifying strategic sourcing opportunities; initiate RFPs (Requests for Proposal) for inviting material and service providers to compete for business and report on responses to RFPs for review by procurement, management, and operations for final business award.
  • Conduct research on material and service providers pertaining to alternate sources and new innovations along with evaluating potential risks.
  • Assemble procurement and market related information in support of strategic plans and budgets to support personal growth and enhance position.
  • Maintain periodic updates on supplier’s performance, financial condition and other related items.
  • Develop government statistical reports related to materials and services on quarterly or annual basis as required.
  • Produce Appropriation Requests in support of procurement programs.
  • Prepare and issue select corporate purchase orders as required.
  • Support SAP initiatives.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management, business, or related field.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred.
  • 2-5 years progressive purchasing/procurement experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Periodic travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
