POSITION SUMMARY

Matthews Environmental Solutions, a leader in the memorialization and combustion systems industry, is actively recruiting a Director – Division Controller. With oversight of multiple international and domestic locations, the Director will assume the role of the finance business partner for the division by providing all financial advice on investments with a focus on forecasting and budgeting. Planning, organizing, and directing the financial and administrative functions of the division, this role develops and implements procedures and controls which assure that the accounting’s objectives and goals of the division, business unit, and corporation are attained. The Director is the primary liaison in regard to all business operations for interface with the Global Business Services (GBS) organization and all corporate financial functions.
 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides high-level financial advisory support to business leader(s).
  • Oversees compliance with critical accounting activities and associated internal controls.
  • Serves as primary contact to internal and external audit regarding division audit activities.
  • Ensures that periodic financial management information is prepared, and business performance is analyzed, including providing analyses to support quarterly investor relations presentations and board submissions.
  • Accountable for preparation and analysis of monthly forecasts, annual operating budgets, and strategic planning financial projections.
  • Provides commercial financial leadership (pricing, RFP responses, credit and other contractual terms).
  • Evaluates financial justification for appropriation requests as well as financial support for acquisitions.
  • Leads and assists with projects to improve financial reporting and analytical capabilities.
  • Supports the integration of newly acquired businesses and participates in other special projects as assigned.
  • Serves a primary interface between the Global Business Services organization and the business that is being supported.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished.  Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
  • Develops and provides financial information (historical and forecasted) for internal and external use.
  • Promotes open and honest communication within departments, division, Corporate, and others to build relationships and credibility to enhance the reputation of the business.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished.
  •  Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • 10+ years progressive financial planning experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years in a leadership role
  • Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Experience with SAP and related reporting and planning applications (BPC, BI)
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with, present to and influence peers and management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
