POSITION SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this job is to ensure that all inbound/outbound shipments for IDL are picked up and delivered in a timely manner while maintaining cost efficiencies.
The Supervisor-Logistics analyzes, plans, and prepares the flow of work and materials for the business to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet completion dates according to the service schedule in accordance with business needs and department’s financial goals. This role interfaces with operations, purchasing, engineering, sales, and management to assure successful execution of projects. This role also examines job specifications and capacity data, and performs calculations to determine workflow processes, tools, and employee requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with scheduler and project managers, and access reports, schedules, planning boards and various system files to acquire a detailed understanding of project plans, job timelines, target dates for any manufactured parts and assure that all scheduled timelines are being met.
- Attend and/or lead regular planning/scheduling meetings.
- Monitor and initiate review of schedule issues with the scheduler to establish a plan for corrective action that satisfies the assigned start date. Provide planning input for re-scheduling options.
- Initiate direct communication with the project management, planning, and manufacturing groups as required in order to assure a complete understanding and communication of manufacturing plans, activity schedules, and target dates.
- Interface with engineering to ensure any requirements for drawings/diagrams meet order scheduling timelines.
- Review specific activity planning and material requisites to assure the most practical and cost-effective execution and recommend alternative planning as required.
- Process, assign and release all work orders for each job and ensure accurate activity durations, BOM entry and start dates required to meet timeline target dates.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares records such as reports, lists and purchase orders to obtain all required materials necessary for each service job.
- Initiate daily interaction with the technicians and supervisors to assure a complete understanding and acknowledgement of the planned work detail and work closely to resolve any issues that may arise while on job site.
- Update BOM and master data task lists when changes are necessary.
- Create and communicate material correction notices to plant personnel and/or outside vendors.
- Supervise plant shipping personnel assuring correct product shipment based on designated timeline.
- Provide quality assurance on all shipped orders.
- Prepare daily worksheets and delivery paperwork for use by the shipping personnel, shop floor and hauler.
- Answer incoming calls, emails, from internal and external clients
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or related field.
- 6+ years progressive logistics experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
- High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
- Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
- Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment may be high.
