The Matthews Management System (MMS) Intern will provide project and analytic support to the Global Production & Technology team and assist with MMS implementation projects as well as supporting research and analytics. This internship will provide an opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of various Global Production & Technology functions including MMS, Supplier Quality, Corporate Purchasing, Project, Engineering, and related.  Responsible for a variety of projects designed to be completed. Gain knowledge of and interact with all three business segments, corporate employees, and other business professionals throughout the internship.



  • Support day-to-day operations of the Global Production & Technology department developing a general understanding of all aspects of administration of the MMS function including policies, procedures and processes.
  • Gain exposure to various assessments and resources including Performance & Review (P&R) audits, SQDV board implementations, value stream mapping.
  • Provide kaizen project support.
  • Primary focus will be working with and supporting the MMS implementation team.
  • Help create and develop new tools, frameworks, and supporting documents for the MMS.
  • Providing assistance with special projects as needed.
  • Additional duties are assigned.


  • Current enrollment in graduate or undergraduate degree program in an Engineering or related field at a recognized college or university.
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and be discrete while accompanying sensitive information.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts – both statistical and financial.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools, forklifts, welding equipment, and cutting torch.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
  • Must have current driver’s license.




  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Regularly/Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low/moderate.
