POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr Tax Senior Accountant Indirect plays a critical role in managing the company’s US and Canadian indirect tax compliance, supporting audits, improving tax processes, and ensuring the accuracy of transactional tax treatments across the business. Indirect taxes primarily include sales and use tax and property tax.  This role requires strong technical expertise in sales & use tax, exceptional analytical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to resolve tax issues and support business operations.

This role will work Tuesday-Thursday in our North Shore office location.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Prepares and reviews tax data incorporated into the US and Canadian based tax returns and  interprets state and local tax laws to determine appropriate indirect tax positions. 
•    Facilitates information gathering and responses to tax authority inquiries as well as the maintenance of documentation. 
•    Captures and manipulates data from various sources to populate Thompson Reuters Tax Compliance Modules (OneSource Indirect Tax Engine and Certificate Manager) 
•    Reconciles tax account activity to ensure compliance with Corporate policies and procedures. 
•    Liaises with controllers on identified issues with vendors and others 
•    Prepares and/or reviews tax account journal entries. 
•    Reviews business license returns and applications. 
•    Participate in ad-hoc tax projects, system implementation and business expansion initiatives.
•    Analyze business activity to assess nexus & recommend registrations.
•    Recommend and implement process improvements, internal controls and enhancement of automation opportunities
•    Manage and monitor compliance calendars to ensure timely filings/payments.
•    Reviews and validates exemption certificates, taxability determinations and use tax accruals.
•    Additional duties as assigned. 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
•    3+ years of Tax, Accounting, or Finance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
•    Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
•    High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite and Outlook. Preference for experience with an ERP system such as SAP.
•    Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
•    Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
•    Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
•    Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
•    Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
•    Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
