Mechanical Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs; applying specific, relevant engineering principles.
•    Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties and developing testing processes.
•    Develops mechanical and electromechanical products, such as machined parts, sheet metal parts and plastic parts, including injection molded parts, by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators.
•    Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
•    Manages the build of designs, prototypes and design of experiments. 
•    Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
•    Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
•    Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.
•    Creates and maintains documentation of designs such as user documentation and manuals, reference specifications, design documents and architectural descriptions.
•    Researches and debugs customer issues, identifying the root cause and developing applicable solutions.
•    Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting in-depth research into emerging technologies and trends.
•    Utilizes project management skills to analyze larger projects and formulate those projects into reasonable, predictable and measurable steps to align with timing requirements. 
•    Plans, schedules and manages projects and resources of medium complexity and assignments up to six months of duration.
•    Additional duties as assigned 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
•    Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred
•    6+ years of previous engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
•    Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
•    Knowledge of solid modeling, CAD software (especially Solidworks), and statistics
•    High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
•    Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
•    Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
•    Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
•    Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
•    Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
•    Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
