POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Process & Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, enhancing, and implementing systems that increase efficiency and optimize all phases of MEMS Wafer production process, from design to manufacturing, and acts as the primary engineering resource for the Wafer Production team. The Sr Process & Manufacturing Engineer will coordinate projects and manage teams to enhance development, team understanding, and timely production. The ideal candidate will possess a mix of product and process engineering skills, wafer fab experience, great attention to detail, the ability to work effectively within a production team, and the drive to improve both the product and the production process. This position will be located at Washington Nanofabrication Facility (WNF) in Seattle, Washington.

The estimated annual salary of this role is 127,500.00 to 135,000.00. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates with teams on specific projects
  • Reviews process design projects and ensures the efficient and safe functioning of all the processes related to producing a product, substance, or service
  • Designs processes and equipment related to the development and commercialization of products or services that are cost effective and within budget
  • Evaluates existing processes, suggests measures for improvement, and configures manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability, boost productivity, quality, and profitability, and develops best practices within the production process
  • Implements methods and process designs, creates prototypes, tests, and makes necessary modifications where required
  • Reviews tests on systems for efficiency and accuracy until a quality and cost-effective production process is implemented successfully
  • Develops and maintains production schedule in coordination with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manages production resources (personnel, materials and equipment) to meet the schedule 
  • Interfaces with internal and external suppliers and manages inventory for raw materials and work in process
  • Utilizes statistical process control to understand and manage production process
  • Manages hygiene and chemical safety for the Production team
  • Coordinates with other professionals such as scientists and other engineers on development and research projects
  • Additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, chemistry, or material science or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5-8 years of progressive process engineering experience required
  • Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical and statistical concepts
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
