The Refractory Technician is a skilled and adaptable tradesperson that has experience the various processes of refractory and brick laying
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Strong aptitude to set forms, mix, and pour refractory according to supplied specifications
• Ability to build and maintain refractory forms
• Operate and maintain large refractory mixes of various makes and models
• Must be able to adapt and problem solve in a fast paced work environment
• Measure, cut, and install high temperature insulation
• Weld refractory hangers per supplied drawings
• Completes assigned tasks efficiently and with an attention to detail and quality.
• Commitment to safety in the workplace.
• Willingness to learn and elevate their skill level.
• Other duties as assigned
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
• Associate’s Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred in related field
• 3+ years of experience in masonry, concrete finishing, or related field.
• Previous work experience related to concrete finishing and masonry
• Advanced knowledge of the basic concepts of refractory
• Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions when dealing refractory and insulation
• Basic verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
• Basic understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization
• Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to work with peers and management in a positive team atmosphere.
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines
• Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools, forklifts, etc.
• Ability to work overtime as necessary.

• Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Regularly exposed to hot and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• The noise level in the work environment may be high.
