Engraving Proof Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

For almost 100 years, Matthews Memorialization has been a leader in the memorialization industry, helping families move from grieving to remembrance, and helping our customers grow their businesses.

The Engraving Proof Specialist manages the process of preparing proofs, ensuring they are processed accurately and timely and providing feedback on opportunities for improvement.  They create proofs to product type, memorial size, number of lines, customer artwork and customer generated specifics.  The Engraving Proof Specialist produces scaled and actual sized drawings utilizing extensive knowledge of emblems, decors, letter styles, letter spacing, composition, materials and manufacturing methods to ensure that the cost limitations of individual orders are graphically achieved.   This position may also be assigned duties related to monitoring and managing the ordering process, continuous improvement efforts and quality.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides a graphic visual representation for both the customer’s approval and for the manufacturing process using various tools and computer aid software.  
• This position is focused on doing this with the highest level of quality and appropriate productivity.
• Provides feedback on customer issues such as ordering errors, missing information and invalid requests.  
• The Proofer is required to maintain an average daily individual production quota with a minimal to zero error percentage      
• Supports continuous improvement efforts to drive quality and productivity improvements.
• The Engraving Proof Specialist will demonstrate accuracy, strong attention to detail and the ability to follow multiple instructions for various types of products. 
• Additional Duties as Assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Applications preferred
• Experience with graphics tools such as Visio, Corel, Photoshop are preferred.
• Knowledge of SAP and other computer applications a plus.  
• Ability to maintain a daily individual production quota while maintaining a minimal/zero error percentage.  
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 
• Ability to write basic email correspondence.  
• Ability to type at least 35 words a minute is required. 
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  
• Ability to calculate and validate pricing.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written, or diagram form.  
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Basic computer literacy with previous computer related experience. 
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Responsible for maintaining up to date reference material on all product types and plant standard practices. 
• Flexible schedule, overtime ( both voluntary and mandatory) can be assigned periodically.
