The Lean/Continuous Improvement Engineer coordinates, implements, and leads the continuous improvement process in the implementation of the business management system. This role plans and coordinates as assigned, engineering activities associated with lean projects, operation methods, processes, application of new technologies, new equipment installation, training and other technical phases involved in the production of company products. The Lean/Continuous Engineer plans utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations.

  • Works with facility management on the implementation of lean initiatives and how to lead a culture change.
  • Plans utilization of facilities equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations. 
  • Leads further development and deployment of tools and frameworks for all business segments.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
  • Identifies and maintains problem areas in the production process and develops and improves continuous flow and visual systems creating a lean culture.
  • Prepares project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding, procedures for accomplishing project, recommend staffing requirements for a project and allotment of available resources.
  • Confers with management and staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Communicates with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Advances the global project and supplier quality engineering function through framework development and project execution. 
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred.
  • 6+ years of previous lean management experience.
  • Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see. 
  • Regularly/Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Regularly/Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment may be high.
