POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr Lean/Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing projects and training efforts associated with the Lean/Continuous Improvement transformation and sustainment initiatives. This role ensures a focus on safety, quality, and delivery to provide sustained operational improvements. The position is instrumental in achieving targeted annualized cost goals and related cost reductions from lean, strategic sourcing, intelligent manufacturing and capital strategy initiatives. 
 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Coaches facility management on the implementation of lean initiatives and how to lead a culture change.
•    Oversees the planning and analyzing of work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules.
•    Partner with work teams and leaders to drive targeted and sustainable improvements tied to strategy and corporate objectives.
•    Assures product and process quality by validating methods, reviewing finished- product and process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
•    Plans utilization of facilities equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations.  
•    Leads further development and deployment of tools and frameworks for all business segments.
•    Analyzes and plans work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
•    Ensures that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
•    Develops value stream data to identify areas of waste within the office and manufacturing processes.
•    Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arranges for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
•    Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished.  Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
•    Additional duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
•    Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred
•    8+ years progressive lean management experience required
•    5+ years in a leadership role (direct or indirect)
•    Periodic travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
•    High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
•    Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills 
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
•    Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
•    Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
•    Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
•    Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
•    Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting

•    Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.

•    Regularly/Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
