POSITION SUMMARY

Matthews International, a company with over 175 years of success and stability is currently hiring for a Group Leader - 3D Printing/Additive Production for our Bronze Foundry. The Group Leader – 3D Printing/Additive Production is responsible for the efficient day-to-day running of production operations and ensuring timely production of quality products for the 3D printing department. The Lead will also be responsible for manufacturing support activities including preparation of 3D print files, lab specimen testing, and technical troubleshooting of machine electromechanical components. In this position you will serve in a leadership role for Matthews’ established and quickly growing 3D sand printing department. 

 

This is a split-shift position, 40+ hours with overtime opportunities available.  Shift hours will be 7am - 3:30am, but can be flexible.   Matthews International offers very competitive starting at $28/hr.+ depending on candidate experience and skills.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads a small team's production efforts as relates to printing, harvesting, post-processing, and packaging of sand, 3D printed parts.
  • Interacts with team employees regarding instruction, priorities, problems and potential issues.
  • Inspects products at various stages in the production process for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical/electrical characteristics.
  • Maintains schedule and communicates with managers and engineers.
  • Maintains accurate and adequate materials and inventory needed for specific work areas.
  • Use a computer to send emails, generate shipping labels, and interact with SAP ERP system.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within units of equipment capacity.
  • Trains and/or coordinates training of team members on specific tasks needed for job. Identifies need for and develops training programs.
  • Maintains and verifies team quality performance with Quality Control personnel.
  • Maintains accurate and adequate materials and inventory needed for specific work areas.
  • Communicates effectively amongst team members and other team leaders to ensure smooth and effective production between departments.
  • Responsible for safety compliance of team members as well as anyone operating in team area.
  • Keeps abreast of new equipment, advances in technology and emerging trends in production, and disseminates such knowledge to the team.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing challenges relating to machine operation and department production.
  • Reviews working practices to ensure measurable improvements in productivity and knowledge transfer.
  • Liaises with external technical support personnel.
  • Maximizes production efficiency by identifying waste and improvements in process.
  • Directs investigation of customer complaints regarding quality, tolerances, specifications, and delivered condition of products.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technolofy Business Administration or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 6+ years progressive production experience in heavy manufacturing or industrial 3D printing
  • 3+ years in a leadership role
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude and desire to troubleshoot elecromechanical systems.
  • A basic understanding of 3D printing technology.
  • Modeling/Nesting experience with Autodesk products (Fusion, AutoCAD, Netfabb)
  • Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.

  • Occassionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical components, fumes, airborne particles, and caustic chemicals.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low/moderate.
