POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Foreman analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools by performing the following duties.
 

Pay: $70,304 per year

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Operates assigned equipment safely in accordance with company and OSHA safety programs and rules.
•    Responsible for manufacturing of company products and meeting assigned shipping dates.
•    Supervises production personnel.
•    Communicates custom orders to other team members.
•    Monitors and reports scrap in all manufacturing areas.
•    Verifies accuracy and updates all Bills of Materials.
•    Verifies accuracy of inventory located in production areas and manufacturing prints along with engineering.
•    Develops and maintains time standards for all aspects of the manufacturing process.
•    Forecasts and schedules daily work in order to meet shipping requirements; approves departmental overtime usage as needed. 
•    Approves employee time cards; manages employee attendance records.
•    Prepares employee evaluations.
•    Maintains a clean and orderly work area during and upon completion of tasks.
•    Meets with shop personnel monthly via production meeting.
•    Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished.  Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
•    Additional duties as assigned.
 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversees and enforces quality control (QC) processes to ensure all production outputs meet internal standards and client specifications prior to final delivery.
• Establishes and maintains QC checkpoints throughout the production lifecycle to minimize errors and rework.
• Reviews and approves final deliverables, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with brand and technical requirements.
• Investigates and resolves quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions to improve overall production performance.

• Manages shipping and receiving operations to ensure timely and accurate movement of materials, components, and finished goods.
• Coordinates inbound and outbound logistics, including tracking shipments, verifying documentation, and resolving discrepancies.
• Ensures proper handling, storage, and inventory tracking of all materials to support production schedules.
• Works closely with vendors, carriers, and internal teams to optimize shipping efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Maintains compliance with safety, regulatory, and company policies related to shipping, handling, and storage.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

•    Associate’s Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
•    6+ years progressive production experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
•    3+ years in a leadership role
•    Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
•    Basic degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
•    Basic analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
•    Basic verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
•    Basic understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
•    Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
•    Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
•    Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
•    Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
•    Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools, forklifts, welding equipment, and cutting torch.
•    Ability to work overtime as necessary. 
 

PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

•    Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.  
•    Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
•    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
•    Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
•    The noise level in the work environment may be high.
