POSITION SUMMARY
Matthews International York, Pennsylvania plant is a high-end wood working plant mixing traditional manufacturing techniques with state-of-the-art automation to produce industry leading caskets. The Senior Engineering Manager is a key member of the plant’s leadership team which sets direction for safety, quality, delivery and creating value (SQDV). The Senior Engineering Manager provides leadership to engineering and automation personnel and maintenance. This position is responsible for all aspects of engineering and technical services for the plant, including automation, controls and systems integration, new equipment installation, and facilities and infrastructure.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enhances and implements a continual automation strategy aligned with business goals.
- Leads and manages long-term technical capability in new and existing technology and technical systems as well as managing organizational capability to sustain technical competence.
- Responsible for worker safety and environmental compliance as applicable.
- Provides technical leadership, knowledge, and people and project management skills.
- Develops and coaches direct reports by providing timely feedback and growth opportunities.
- Builds strong relationships and collaborates with other departments, teams and or management personnel.
- Creates and oversees project budgets and timelines.
- Generates and implements process improvements aligned with strategic goals.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in mechanical engineering or related. MBA preferred.
- 10-15years of relevant work experience with industrial electrical controls, automation, robotics, and related equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- 8+ years of management experience
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to pivot and try new approaches when faced with challenges.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Organizational, planning, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously.
- Ability to respond to emergencies.
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels in the business.
PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. (Standard is 10lbs, Manu. standard is 25lbs modify as needed)
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually low/moderate.
