POSITION SUMMARY
The Layout Operator prepares graphic designs and layouts for presentations, customer approval and shop drawings used as a reference in making the product. This role works from job data supplied and designs and or lays out a wide variety of designs utilizing standard components with consideration for visual conformity, constructional integrity and manufacturing feasibility and economics.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides a graphic visual representation for both the customer's approval and for the manufacturing process using various tools and computer aid software.
• Produces scaled and actual sized drawings utilizing extensive knowledge of emblems, decors, letter styles, letter spacing, composition, materials and manufacturing methods to ensure that the standard cost limitations of individual orders are graphically achieved.
• Translates customer requirements into a design proposal and provides a graphic visual representation for both the customer’s approval and for the manufacturing process using various graphics tools and capabilities.
• Maintains up to date reference material on various products types and plant standard practices.
• Utilizes a great deal of attention to detail and the ability to follow multiple instructions for various product types.
• Maintain a daily individual production quota with maintaining a minimal to zero error percentage.
• Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
• High School Diploma or GED
• 1+ years of previous layout experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
• Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
• Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
• Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
• Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools, forklifts, welding equipment, and cutting torch.
• Ability to work overtime as necessary.
