POSITION SUMMARY

 

The eCommerce Copy Lead writes search optimized copy for retailer product detail pages – including amazon.com, walmart.com, target.com, kroger.com and more – helping to guide our clients to best position their brands and products online. Responsible for writing and/or overseeing consumer-facing copy and search strategy for a variety of CPG clients in a fast-paced, quick-turn environment. Copywriting responsibilities include: product titles, copy feature bullets, product descriptions, backend search terms, image and video copy and below the fold / A+ copy. The eCommerce Copy Lead will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining progress, quality and delivery of copywriting assets and deliverables. The role will delegate work to the team, mentor, train and develop department process and protocols. The eCommerce Copy Lead participates in client engagements and new business opportunities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Responsible for developing search strategy; tailor to unique client needs/positioning and optimize for varying retailer requirements.
  • Leveraging SEO best practices, perform keyword research and integrate high volume keywords and phrases into PDP copy to drive conversion. Company search tools provided.
  • Perform competitive, product and industry research to stay up to date with evolving trends to inform copy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with changing demands in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Efficiently manage a workload of daily copy deliverables across multiple clients and categories meeting accuracy, efficiency, quality control and brand standards.
  • Strong sense of empathy with the shopper coupled with an ability to bring a brand to life through written words; a passion for storytelling and helping to build brands.
  • Manage and mentor the copy team; coordinate, assign and review work.
  • Ensure all deadlines and deliverables are met.
  • Follows established practices and procedures to resolve routine problems

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
  • 6+ years of previous Communications, Journalism, or Marketing experience.
  • Experience writing search optimized copy for CPG brands on retailer site PDPs.
  • Experience with search tools like Helium 10, MerchantWords, OneSpace, etc.
  • Understanding of key online retailers (i.e. Walmart, Amazon, Target) and their unique copy requirements and algorithms.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Excel), Outlook and Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation and planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation and reasoning).
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
  • Periodic travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
