We’re looking for a status-quo denying individual to lead a global quality team designed to improve client experience with value-driving quality reliability and consistency and to destroy wasteful practices that drive cost.  We seek someone who can develop and improve a Quality Management System fit for purpose with digital design, digital manufacturing, and digital distribution to global clients in CPG/FMCG, pharmaceutical, apparel, electronics, and other B2C industries.

This is a leadership role with direct reports (manager of managers) and global travel (approximately 25%) to business and client sites in Asia, North and South America, and Europe.  This role reports to a Senior Director within Global Operations and will sit on the Global Operations Leadership Team, chaired by the EVP, Global Operations, and will interface with commercial leaders and directly with clients as required.

Cultural awareness, change management, and continuous improvement mindsets are essential for success.  Candidates must be willing and capable of coaching team members and peers.

Responsibilities

•    Own the vision and deploy the strategy for the future of quality within global operations—increase quality as a value driver and decrease quality as a cost driver. 
•    Ensure that production methods follow quality standards expected by customers and required by regulatory environments and that quality is placed at the forefront of all workplace inputs, processes, and outputs.
•    Develop, document, deploy, maintain, and improve a quality management system (QMS) inclusive of policies, procedures, processes, and practices.
•    Maintain and comply with ISO 9000/1, ISO 14000/1, ISO 28219 or others as applicable; organise activities of sites to achieve and maintain ISO certifications as required.
•    Lead and direct problem-solving activities designed to improve quality performance; aid in root cause analysis, corrective action/preventive action (CAPA) responses, RFPs, audits, and other quality-related tools, events, and methods.
•    Enable the commercial and operations teams to deliver what the customer wants: shortest lead time, highest quality, and lowest cost.
•    Provide subject matter expertise for GMP/cGMP requirements for label and documentation (GDocP) as applicable
•    Interface with the business and customer (as applicable) as steward of quality assurance, quality control, and QMS; Interface with global operations on quality control practices.
•    Utilise process improvement methodologies to build management processes, data foundations and tools to enable standardisation within quality function.
•    Monitor and report quality KPIs for the business (internal) and customer (external), as applicable, and determine the right KPIs to measure for health of quality function, e.g., DPMO, COPQ with support of Business Intelligence.
•    Lead and organise the adoption and improvement of quality tools for incoming quality, internal quality, and external quality and serve as a thought leader on quality topics.
•    Supervise or conduct internal and external audits on both scheduled and ad hoc bases.
•    Create/revise and maintain quality training materials for deployment as part of new-user/employee orientation, annual training requirements (through LMS), and classroom-led training.
•    Demonstrate partnership with Matthews International corporate quality leadership and team; maintain compliance with corporate policies.
•    Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished.  Mentors, coaches, trains, and develops team.

 

Experience

•    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

•    Progressive quality management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

•    Progressive leadership experience.

•    Experience in packaging, labelling, and labelling content with CPG, food, dairy, supplements/vitamins, food and beverage, bottling, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries preferred.

•    Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.

•    Experience with marketing, advertising, printing, packaging, pre-press, or design industries preferred.

•    Ability to travel globally is required—no restrictions on travel or entry to foreign countries with appropriate documentation.

•    Fluency in English required; familiarity or fluency with other world/global languages preferred.

•    Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. 
•    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
•    Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
•    The noise level in the work environment may be high.
