Lead Premedia Artist

POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Premedia Artist Develops final high-resolution print-ready or pre-media output digital files for basic to complex Production assignments. In coordination with the client project team assembles digital files incorporating the completed images from the Color & Retouching team and the packaging layouts from the Production Artists team per client’s/printer technical specifications. May provide direction to other Assembly colleagues.
 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Attends client meetings (e.g. pre-production) as necessary.
•    Ensures accurate, consistent, and high quality printing of basic to complex level final print or pre-media Artwork files effectively using industry standard software, tools, and Pre-Press and Print techniques.
•    Apply pre-press printing knowledge in daily routine such as colour separation, trapping,stepping, high-resolution image replacement, high-resolution barcode replacement, CT development etc.
•    Assists in reviewing all artworks with production team.
•    Proactively anticipates and resolves issues with limited direction.
•    Ensures high quality standards in all production client deliverables.
•    Ensures accurate, consistent, and timely completion of high quality intermediate to complex level artwork, effectively using industry standard software, tools, and print techniques.
•    Interprets concept and/or brand guidelines through to artwork execution.
•    Builds and maintains effective working relationships with internal and/or external clients.
•    Performs assigned tasks within the overall Production workflow and assigned budget, according to work order specifications, industry and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), company standards, and the client’s brand guidelines and standards.
•    Ensures client project team has most current information about the status of the assigned project(s) by logging and maintaining in the project tracking system.
•    Meets quality standards consistently for all assigned deliverables and makes recommendations to management for improvements in reports, tools, processes and assigned tasks.
•    Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS

•    Diploma/Degree in Graphic Arts, Marketing, Advertising, Printing Technology or related field
•    Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred
•    6+ years of previous Graphic Arts, Marketing, Advertising, Printing Technology experience will be an added advantage.
•    Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
•    High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
•    Advanced computer software skills within Apple Mac equipment and operating systems, Adobe Design Suite, Acrobat plus QuarkXpress, Agile, etc.
•    Proficient in Adaptive Design.
•    Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
•    Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
•    Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
•    Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
•    Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
•    Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
•    Ability to work overtime as necessary.
