POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Manager- Indirect Tax will direct and oversee all planning and compliance aspects of the Corporation’s indirect taxes, including state sales and use taxes, property taxes, and gross receipts taxes. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer and review state sales & use, property and gross receipt tax function and processes.
  • Manage the U.S. sales & use, property and gross receipt tax compliance process, which includes gathering and analyzing the relevant information from the various systems and businesses, including OneSource tax engine, Avalara, and our return outsourcing providers.
  • Responsible for developing and creating tax policy, planning and strategies, including recommendations to management and divisional personnel.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current tax legislation through research and recommend necessary changes to policies and procedures affecting the company.
  • Coordinate state and local tax audits and resolve tax liabilities while representing the company to outside authorities.
  • Maintain, analyze and update accounts for all indirect taxes (excluding payroll-related taxes).
  • Ensures company does not over accrue use taxes by reviewing monthly accruals and tax engine programming.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of indirect tax employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished. Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
  • 8+ years progressive experience.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Periodic travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
