We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team at SGK Marketcraft in Tigard, OR.  This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fabrication and production-focused environment—where engineering meets craftsmanship. You’ll lead a talented team responsible for bringing creative retail concepts to life through expert project planning, shop floor collaboration, and precision execution.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

•    Directs local product engineering resources.
•    Works in the execution of new products; researches emerging and competitive products; Reduces cost and enhances existing products.
•    Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
•    Provides manufacturing technical & documentation support; resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
•    Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
•    Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
•    Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develops recommendations accordingly.
•    Utilizes engineering skills to recommends and implements methods for improving processes, including worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.  
•    Serves as high-level release manager on all product releases.
•    Ensures all internal projects are managed to schedules.
•    Manages customer crises.
•    Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished.  Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
•    Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

 

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
•    Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred
•    8+ years progressive engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
•    5+ years in a leadership role (direct or indirect)
•    Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
•    High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
•    Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills 
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
•    Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
•    Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
•    Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
•    Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
•    Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
